Asian Wedding Photography in London – Shanaz and Atiq
This is likely to be the last post of the year, so I thought Shanaz & Atiq’s wedding reception would be a perfect post to end with.
There were so many things happening at the wedding reception, I’m not sure where to begin. Shanaz and Atiq were a dream to work with. Full of life and not at all short of humour. We found out that Shanaz and Atiq’s families were just as fun and mischievous.
“The secret to keeping him happy is you gotta feed him… and pluck him!” – Grooms brother-in-law
We started at Hendon Hall Hotel in north London for a few getting ready shots, and then made our way to Cavendish Banqueting in Colindale for the reception. Their siblings had set up a whole evening of non-stop games and entertainment. It all started with a game where a selected group of men had to take off a piece of clothing and keep moving up a chair until all their clothes got mixed up. Then on the whistle they all had to go and find each item of their own clothing and whoever manages to dress up first would have won that game.
During the speeches, Atiq nearly died of shame when it was revealed how much he’s obsessed with his looks. So much so that he went to the gym on the morning of the wedding! And then, went on to get his eyebrows plucked!! Atiq maintains that they are natural. But women can tell Atiq, so no point in denying it. They at least kept everyone entertained with their stories of Atiq’s workout regimes and perfectly ‘natural’ eyebrows when they went around to greet the guests. The funniest line had to be from one of Atiqs brother-in-laws who came up with the following: “The secret to keeping him happy is you gotta feed him… and pluck him!”
Both sides of the family gave some fantastic dance performances! You’d think they all belong to some sort of Bollywood backing dance groups! Their dances would not have been complete without some of their trademark silly moves.
They had another hilarious game where a selected group of men and women sat around chairs, and on the whistle, they would have to race to go and find whatever was announced. And when they were told to find a child under 10 years of age, that’s when we found out how old one of Atiq’s brother really was…he’s just a big kid…lol
We thought it ended there, but there was more to come and the night was still young. This time the poor bride had to take part in a game after being blindfolded a whole line of men were prepared for her. She had to find her groom and identify him through touch only. It was so difficult to keep our composure without falling with fits of laughter when it came to Shanaz having a feel of Atiq’s brother in laws bicep. He tried so desperately to fool Shanaz by pumping his biceps as big as possible and it showed on his face how difficult that was….lol
All we can say is that it was an absolute joy to be there and we enjoyed it just as much as the guests. And we only had more to look forward to after everyone got on the dance floor.
There’s way too many images to upload in a single blog post, but here’s a selection of our favourite moments from the wedding day.
Amazing colour, great job, Steve & Sandra
I love Indian weddings such detail and great color. I’m amazed at how sharp all the motion shots are. Truly nice job!
The pictures are simply amazing to see. I have been shopping around for a new camera. It’s between Sony and Nikon but I haven’t made up my mind yet.
I have a friend who takes wedding photography for a living I will have to send him a link to the ones you took.
Just outstanding and gorgeous reception and very good photography.
Strong set of wedding photos. Very sharp. Good job!
Awesome Jay – you have to send me some pictures for our website.
Hi Akbar, it’s Jay’s wife here. Thanks for your comment, totally didn’t see your message till now. Get in touch regarding the images you want for your website. Will be happy to discuss it in more detail with you. Speak soon :-)
Jay..bro..”both side of the family gave some great dance performances” I think you will find it was only the groom’s side that gave the awesome dance moves..obviously through months of hard work and dedication! ;)
Was it just your side dancing Habib? Oops.. I thought everyone got involved.. :-)
Whoever it was, it was awesome!! You guys put a great show. How are you anyway? I get to talk to Mabs and Atiq often, but never get the opportunity to chat to you bro. Lets meet up if you’re free some day. Maybe over the xmas breaks? :D

lol, its nasir. Shahed’s a pleasure to work with but as its says below “dodgy” lol
Dodgy or not, he’s a good lad. Likes a laugh. Are you ever down in the London area Nasir? :-)
“The secret to keeping him happy is you gotta feed him… and pluck him” – BEST LINE OF THE NIGHT! lol!
Awesome images bro- the shots of them by the window are my fave! Was great seeing you guys after ages too! I can’t believe you caught me with that cupcake- I’m beginning to think you take dodgy pictures of me on purpose? lol!
What you on about Shahed?…you’re just dodgy in general so it’s very likely that’s all that will show in the pictures….lol
Damn your logic stands to reason! :(
Either way the cupcakes were lush though! :-)
Oh yeah, how could I have forgotten that line! Adding it to the story now. Thanks for reminding me Shahed! :D
Instant energy! I love the high kick pic from the reception: its really cool!
